Scharfstein, Zevi
(1884-1972)
   Amerian Hebrew educator and publisher, of Ukrainian origin. He devoted himself to educational work and was the head of a Hebrew school in Tarnow, Galicia, from 1900 to 1914. After settling in the US, in 1916 he became an instructor at the Teachers Institute of the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York, where subsequently he became a professor of Jewish education. He published educational texts dealing with Hebrew language and literature, Jewish education and the Bible.
